My Journey
Tommie L. Stanfield, III, a child of God, author, poet, and spoken word artist that was born and raised Cleveland, OH. Tommie's journey started when he was in middle school, his oldest brother, Dennis Stanfield, released his first book of poetry, A Walk Through My Mind, in 2007. At such a young age, Tommie was impressed by his brother being able to make such an impact with writing a book. This inspired him to start his own journey of writing poetry with the intentions of writing a book as well. Around that time, his friends introduced him to a poetry group called "The Distinguished Gentlemen of Spoken Word" that would improve his writing and introduced him to small performances. In high school, Tommie took a break from writing, not for any other reason than just living life, but the pen was picked back up when his other brother was rushed to the hospital for heart complications. He sunk into his old ways of not being able to express or process what was happening until poetry showed its face. A little more than a year after that, in 2017, his first book, Where to Start?, was published and had a release party with both of his brothers in attendance. In 2023, another book was published, This Journey Isnt Over Yet, which is the second book of the trilogy and now he is working on the last book of the trilogy, which holds a special place in his heart. The impact that he has made over the years has been really unexpected but empowering because the intention from the beginning was just for a sense of personal relief. But nothing is just for one person alone, so he will continue to be that inspiration and always encourage to utilize every creative outlet in your reach and find your peace like poetry was for him.
